She operates Bird in Hand Press, a creative print studio located in Santa Barbara, California. Beyond providing illustration and design services, the studio also serves as a workshop and Open Studio space where the local community can access risography.
In 2023 she help start, co-organize and serves as the President of Off Register: Santa Barbara Art Book & Print Fair a community non-profit event sponsored by the Santa Barbara Arts Collaborative.
Prior to Bird in Hand Press, Kestrel worked at a small commercial letterpress print shop, and wholesale card manufacturer, that help guide her into her specialized focus in the print media arts. When she isn’t illustrating or printing she teaches workshops for educational and non-profit institutions. Past and current clients include Santa Barbara City College, Art Fund Santa Barbara, UCSB College of Creative Studies and the Santa Barbara Botanical Garden.
Kestrel graduated from Art Center College of Design with a BFA in Illustration. She grew up between Canada, Taiwan and the USA. When she isn’t browsing stationery stores she can be found skating at the ice rink.
