Festival Vendor Photo Submission Guidelines

The photographs you submit are crucially important. They serve a few purposes. First, the jury selects art based on the photos received. Second, if you are selected by the jury, they serve as imagery to promote your art via social media and other advertising purposes.

Plain and simple, if your photos are not good quality, this will not be in your favor. You may do exceptional work, and if the images you send are dark or blurry, it will not matter.

With that said, the SBSGOAF is making good photographs a mandatory part of the application process.

Please follow the basics below, and if you are not getting good results with your smartphone or digital camera, please hire a photographer or friend who can help with the proper imagery.

1) All photos must be jpeg, preferably between 1500 and 2500 pixels wide in size.

2) Natural light by a big window is very good lighting or a soft box light box found in a camera store or online.

3) Consider using an all white seamless sweep or light grey background for a nice clean look to highlight your work. Rolled paper under and behind product works nicely.

4) You can use a small tripod to ensure the phone or camera from moving so photos are sharp.

5) Fill the frame so we can see what your product is clearly.

6) Use an app to fine tune your imagery lighting and adjust to desired brightness.

7) Search other artists online and recognize the elements that highlight their work to get ideas how your work would benefit by taking excellent photos.

8) Once you get the hang of it, you will enjoy more positivity on your own social media, by getting creative with your photography skills!
